Flying Cloud Institute brings programs into the public schools that provide curricular enrichment, staff development, artist/scientist residencies and performances, as well as after school activities. The year round work in the schools is key to fulfilling the Institute’s mission to provide children with experiences that inspire creative thinking, problem solving, and innovation in the arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

This is accomplished by improving classroom instruction through staff development and curriculum design, bringing role models from a variety of disciplines into the classrooms to work with students, and providing experiences beyond what public schools usually offer. The after school programs give students opportunities to work with specialists in a small group setting to explore their interests more fully. Now over half of the Institute’s resources are devoted to important partnerships with local schools.
